Have you experienced a tire blowout? While these can be scary, there are a few things you can check before getting on the road if you think your tires might be ready to blow. First, your tire pressure should be at the recommended level. Cold weather temperatures typically cause your tire pressure to drop, but you may also have a crack or split in the rubber causing tire pressure loss.
If your tires are too worn, you’re also in danger of a tire blowout. Your treads shouldn’t be too worn or going bald. A simple test with a penny can tell you if your treads are too low. You simply place a penny between the treads and see if Lincoln’s head is visible above the tread mark. If so, then you need to replace your tires as soon as possible.
